Hi, I’m Dr Thea, one of the dentists here at Dental House Group.

Last Thursday, one of our long-time patients, Steven from Essendon, came in to see us about a cosmetic smile makeover. During our consultation, I shared with him that we will be using Digital Smile Design to design his smile together. After explaining to him the process of Digital Smile Design, also known as DSD, he got really excited. He loved the idea of co-designing his smile, and being able to see the final result before we do anything in his mouth.

For people who are considering a cosmetic dental procedure, it might be useful to understand what is DSD, and our process here at the Dental House Group. So I’ve made this video sharing with you the process.

Upgrading your smile can be exciting, but it can also be a big decision. It may take time and for some, will be a significant investment. Each patient has unique needs, so the ultimate process will be slightly different for each. But one thing that is the same for all patients is that with DSD, you will help in planning your new smile and you will know the outcome before we even begin.

Digital Smile Design is a treatment planning service that uses analysis of your facial structure, your current dental structure, and diagnostic tools to create a smile that is in harmony with your face. During the planning stage, we can diagnose structural issues, while you work with us each step of the way to ensure we help you achieve your dream smile.

This might sound like a lot, but the DSD system was created to help streamline this process. So, here are the steps you can expect when using Digital Smile Design.

First, we will take any photos, x-rays, and videos so we can have a full understanding of your face and mouth, including your gums and lips. We will even analyze how your face moves when you talk and smile, which helps create your personalised results. During this time, we will also have a conversation with you so we understand your requirements for your ideal smile.
Once we have all the information we need, we will input it into the DSD software. This will allow us to plan the treatments needed to reach your smile goals. At this time, we will schedule your next visit.
Now that we’ve had time to input all of your information into the software, you will come in for the most exciting part – seeing how your new smile will look. This is sometimes called a mockup, and it is to show you the results before the treatment is started. Now is when you will let us know what you like and don’t like, so we can make the right adjustments. We will go over the treatments needed to create your dream smile, and you can decide which treatments you want and when. Once you are happy with your new smile on the mockup, we will confirm your treatment plan and begin!

DSD is a standard here at Dental House Group for all cosmetic smile makeover treatments. This gives our patients the peace of mind knowing exactly what they will get before we begin.

I hope I have given you a better understanding of the process of digital smile design. If you are looking at upgrading your smile, we would love to help.

Here at Dental House Group, we offer flexible payment plans, which means you can get your dream smile faster!
