When you’re dealing with a toothache at 7am or a chipped tooth after lunch, the last thing you want to hear is “our next available appointment is in three weeks.” Yes, you can book a same-day dental appointment in Gisborne VIC, and here’s exactly how it works.
At New Gisborne Dental House, we keep emergency slots available specifically for urgent situations. We’ve been serving the Macedon Ranges for over 40 years, and we know that dental emergencies don’t wait for convenient timing. Our team is experienced in handling everything from severe pain to knocked-out teeth.
If you’re in pain right now, call us on (03) 5414 2844 or call 1800 GENTLE. The earlier you call, the better your chances of being seen today.
What Counts as a Dental Emergency?
Not every dental issue needs same-day treatment, but some absolutely do. Severe, persistent pain that isn’t managed by over-the-counter pain relief is worth an urgent call. The same goes for a tooth that’s been knocked out (keep it moist in milk or saliva), a cracked or broken tooth, significant swelling, or uncontrolled bleeding after an extraction.
If you’re unsure whether your situation is urgent, call us anyway. Our reception team can help you assess the situation and advise on the best next steps.
How Same-Day Appointments Work
Call as early as possible in the day. We open at 8am Monday to Thursday and can often fit emergency patients in between scheduled appointments or during dedicated emergency slots. When you call, describe your symptoms clearly so we can prioritise appropriately.
When you arrive, we’ll assess the situation, take any necessary X-rays using our digital imaging equipment, and create a treatment plan. Sometimes we can complete treatment in that initial visit. Other times, we’ll manage your immediate pain and schedule follow-up care.
The Reality Check
While we do our utmost to see emergency patients on the same day, there are occasionally days when our schedule is completely full. In these cases, we’ll work to see you as soon as possible, often the next morning. If your situation is truly urgent and we genuinely cannot fit you in, we’ll advise you on appropriate next steps, including the nearest hospital dental clinic if needed.
What About After Hours?
Our regular hours are Monday to Thursday 8am to 6pm, Friday 8am to 5pm, with Saturday appointments available by arrangement. For genuine after-hours emergencies, hospital emergency departments can provide initial care for severe dental trauma or infections causing significant swelling.
Preventing Dental Emergencies
While some emergencies are unavoidable, regular check-ups and cleans can catch issues before they become urgent. A small cavity treated early won’t turn into the severe toothache that has you calling at 7am. We recommend check-ups every six months for most patients.
