Gum Treatment - Gisborne, Macedon & Riddells Creek - Gisborne Dental House

A gummy smile can make some people feel self-conscious or unhappy with their smile. Fortunately, our team at The Dental House at Gisborne has solutions to help. We understand there are numerous reasons for a gummy smile such as worn teeth or a shorter upper lip, and no matter what your situation, we will identify the best treatment to fix it.

A patient may have a gummy smile because of certain traits they were born with, and most of which can be treated. The following are the main causes for this condition:
\
Worn teeth can appear too short for the gums
\
Small teeth may also result in more gums than teeth showing when smiling or talking
\
Gums that are enlarged or long, also known as gingival hypertrophy, may cover most of the teeth
\
Hypermobility of the upper lip reveals too much of your gums when smiling

Gum Treatment Benefits

The obvious benefits of gum treatment are that your teeth will be seen when you want them to. The treatments are mostly aesthetic but are efficient and allow for improved oral hygiene. If you have gum tissue removed because of gingivitis or periodontitis then both your teeth and gums will be healthier. More benefits of gum treatment include the following:

Lower the risk of future dental issues

A more balanced smile

Low risk treatments to improve your smile

Gum Treatment Services at The Dental House at Gisborne

Each patient and situation are unique, which is why we offer a variety of gum treatment services. We want to ensure you get the dental solution that will improve your oral health and make you smile. The following are the services we provide:
Soft Tissue Laser Gum Recontouring- Gum Treatment - Gisborne, Macedon & Riddells Creek - Gisborne Dental House

Soft Tissue Laser Gum Recontouring

is a minimally invasive procedure that can recontour a gumline. This treatment is also called gum recontouring and incorporates a laser that uses vibration and heat to remove excess gumline, with minimal blood and swelling. This mild treatment can reshape the gum so that more of your teeth can be seen, and often only requires a topical and local anesthetic.

Surgical Gum Treatment - Gisborne, Macedon & Riddells Creek - Gisborne Dental House

Surgical Gum Treatment

may be required when more gum needs to be removed or if bone around the mouth needs recontouring. This treatment may be used to treat gum disease, again using only a local anesthetic so you feel only pressure or vibration in your mouth area. In spite of the name, recovery and downtime are minimal with only over-the-counter medications required to reduce swelling afterward.

Porcelain Veneers - Gum Treatment - Gisborne, Macedon & Riddells Creek - Gisborne Dental House

Porcelain Veneers

are an efficient dental solution to resolve teeth that are too small or too short from genetics or due to wear. Porcelain veneers are thin coverings that are placed on the front of teeth, often used to improve their appearance. They can be created to match the shade and shape of your other teeth so they fit right in, and only you know they are there. These are one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry treatments to improve a smile today.

Cosmetic Injectable - Gum Treatment Gisborne, Macedon & Riddells Creek Gisborne Dental House

Cosmetic Injectable

may be linked to cosmetic medicine, but is a wonderful treatment for patients with hypermobility of the upper lip. This condition is mainly aesthetic and takes place when the lip rises too far up when smiling, exposing the teeth and much of the upper gums. While no cause for concern, hypermobility of the lip may make a patient feel uncomfortable and self-conscious. Cosmetic Injectable can relax the muscles so you can smile with ease.
