Our experienced team at New Gisborne Dental House is very skilled with Invisalign technology and we have the knowledge to ensure your Invisalign experience provides the results you want and deserve.

What is Invisalign Technology?

Unlike metal braces that are attached to teeth through a series of adhesives, brackets and wires, Invisalign uses clear trays that fit over the top or bottom of an entire row of teeth. While they are removable, making eating easier, they are meant to be worn for at least 22 hours each day. Trays are made of BPA-free plastic that fit discreetly over your teeth, and a series of trays will be used with each tray bringing your teeth closer to their ideal alignment.

To prepare for your Invisalign treatment, intraoral scanners are used to scan your teeth for a 3D image of your mouth. These accurate models enhance the efficiency of your treatment and help us provide accurate trays that fit securely. The computer-aided, 3D image provides the current status of your teeth and then we use ClinCheck software to accurately plan and control your teeth alignment process.

How it Works

When you come to the Dental House for your Invisalign procedure, you can be confident that our team is experienced with the technology and we have helped thousands of our patients achieve beautifully straight teeth. The following is what you can expect with our Invisalign process:
When you inform the dentist that you are interested in Invisalign, you will be given a comprehensive dental examination to see if you are a candidate for this treatment.
If you are a candidate, you will receive digital x-rays, 3D scans, and moulds of your teeth.
The information we gather will be sent to the Invisalign lab, where it will be used to create a series of customised trays for your alignment procedure.
Your next appointment will be exciting as you receive your first tray along with instructions for use and care.
The trays should feel a bit tight and not fit perfectly. These trays are designed to move your teeth from their current position into their new position, so they should feel “off” at first until your teeth begin to move into place. Each tray will be worn for approximately 2-3 weeks, and each one brings you closer to your ideal alignment.
After this appointment, we will schedule future visits where you will receive a new set of trays. We will also monitor the progress of your teeth alignment and make adjustments, if necessary.
Once your treatment is complete, you may get a retainer to wear for a while, which helps your teeth stay in their ideal place.

Am I a Candidate for Invisalign?

Invisalign is a popular choice to align teeth for both teenagers and adults. The clear trays are ideal for those who want to work and live without others noticing their dental procedure, and they are less invasive than the traditional braces.

The Invisalign dental solution is best for patients who have mild to moderate teeth misalignment. The following are teeth alignment issues commonly treated with Invisalign:

Z

Crowded teeth

Z
Generally crooked teeth, but not rotated or pegged teeth
Z
Overbites and Underbites
Z
Crossbite
Z
Gapped teeth (that aren’t too wide)
Z
Children with bite issues
Z
Children with mildly narrow dental arch
If it is determined that you are not a candidate for Invisalign, there is no need to worry because our skilled dentists can help find a solution that is right for you. We offer a variety of cosmetic and restorative dental treatments, and we can form a dental treatment plan to suit your needs.

The Benefits of Invisalign

The benefits of Invisalign are why they continue to be a popular choice for many patients. For example, traditional braces have many moving parts made of metal. Regular dental visits are required to tighten the braces, which makes many patients uncomfortable. These braces also make many patients feel self-conscious about their teeth or smile, and it can be difficult to speak clearly or eat while wearing them.

Invisalign trays are clear and less noticeable and can be removed to eat and clean your teeth. The aligners are less invasive, and each tray slowly moves your teeth into place. The material does not cause abrasions or sores in the mouth, and there is less force on the teeth, thus protecting the integrity and strength of the teeth. The following is a summary of the benefits of Invisalign:

More comfort than traditional braces

Removable so you can eat and drink with ease
No restricted diets like with traditional braces
Removable trays make it easy to clean your teeth, and the aligner trays
Clear trays are less noticeable so you can work, go to class, or socialise with ease
Playing sports is possible with aligner trays
If you need a break for a day for a special event, simply talk to your dentist for guidance
