Dental Implants at Gisborne, Macedon & Riddells Creek

Dental implants are popular with patients to permanently replace missing teeth. They not only replace the tooth, but also replace the tooth root, which prevents jawbone deterioration. Our team at the Dental House in Melbourne utilises 3D technology so our patients get the best looking and best-fitting implants available. Your dental implant will feel and look like a natural tooth while your jawbone structure remains intact.

What are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are a permanent dental solution to replace missing teeth. The actual implant is a titanium post that is placed into the jawbone to act as a tooth root, and then a dental crown is secured on top of the implant that will act as your new tooth. Mainly used to replace molars, dental implants also have other functions such as supporting a bridge or dentures.

Our 3D Dental Implant Technology

3D Dental Implant Technology - Gisborne, Macedon & Riddells Creek - Gisborne Dental House
Computer-guided implant surgery, along with 3D cone beam scans, are used to accurately see the natural shape of your teeth and mouth. This allows us to perfect the angle of the implant, which ensures it is secure and comfortable as it naturally fits in with the surrounding teeth. The following are just some benefits of the technology:
\
3D x-rays to view your teeth from all angles
\
Improved views allow us to quickly identify underlying dental issues
\
Increased diagnostic accuracy for comfort and security
\
Improved equipment lessens exposure to radiation
Our team at Gisborne Dental House will take our time planning your implant surgery with accuracy, so we can determine the best placement of your implant before we even begin. You can be confident that your dental procedure will be quicker with few complications.

The Benefits of Dental Implants

Benefits of Dental Implants - Gisborne, Macedon & Riddells Creek - Gisborne Dental House
Dental implants are a favoured solution to replace teeth for many reasons. They provide both aesthetic and health benefits and are durable enough to last a lifetime. Not only do they look and function like real teeth, but they prevent bone deterioration, which makes them anti-aging. The following are the many benefits of dental implants:
Implants are made of titanium, a rare material and one of the only materials that are biocompatible with human bone
Implants fuse with your natural jawbone to prevent deterioration and the sunken facial structure that comes with it
Improved speech, thanks to filling in tooth gaps or replacing sliding dentures
Preserve natural bone and stimulate bone growth for improved, long-term oral health
Stabilise surrounding teeth and gums so they last longer
More comfortable than dentures after they heal
Convenient, no need to remove for cleaning or sleeping
Durable, last a lifetime with proper oral hygiene and care
Jaw, cheeks and overall face shape maintain a more youthful appearance
Improved confidence with teeth replacements that stay secure while talking and eating

Are You a Candidate for Dental Implants?

While dental implants are a popular choice to replace missing teeth, they may not be best for all patients. Dental implants are designed as a permanent solution as the implants are placed into the jawbone. Because of this, there may be situations in which implants are not an option, such as:

Excessive loss of jawbone
Jawbone deformity
Receding or infected gums
Previous failed dental implants
Excessive dental plaque buildup on nearby teeth
Heavy smoking habit
Our goal at the Dental House is to first save our patients’ teeth. But, if you are a candidate for a dental implant, you can be confident knowing that our experience and skill will ensure you get the service and smile you deserve.

However, if we find that you are not a candidate for a dental implant, no need to worry. In many cases, we can help repair dental problems such as help you heal from gum disease, place a bone graft to build up deteriorating jawbone, or professionally scale teeth to remove plaque buildup. And if implants are still not an option, we will work with you to find a dental solution that is right for you.

How it’s Done

Modern technology has made getting dental implants safer and easier than ever. But knowing what to expect can help ease any concerns you may have. The following is a general outline of the dental implant procedure.
You will receive an initial dental examination and consultation to ensure you are a candidate for dental implants
Professional 3D x-rays will be taken to capture an accurate view of your mouth and teeth
You mouth will be prepared for the implant, including a dental cleaning and scaling if necessary
Decayed or damaged teeth will be extracted
The tooth socket will be grafted, if necessary
The implant will be placed on your next visit
Another impression will be taken with the new implant
The dental crown will be placed and secured on the implant to act as your new tooth
It may help to gently rinse your mouth with mild salt water for two weeks after your procedure to promote healing
Our work is meticulous, so we ensure each patient receives the care they deserve. Because of this, the dental implant process may take a few days or up to two weeks, depending upon your oral health and personal situation.

How Long Will Dental Implants Last?

Dental implants are meant to be a permanent solution, as they replace the tooth and the tooth root. Your jawbone will fuse with the implant, securing it and treating it as your own natural bone. Because of this, it is important to follow a daily oral hygiene regimen to care for your implants and the rest of your teeth. This includes:
N
Brush and floss twice each day
N
Continue regular dental checkups to catch dental problems early
N
Schedule regular, professional dental cleanings to ensure plaque and calculus do not build up on your teeth
