What is Cosmetic Injectable, and how does it work?
Botulinum Neurotoxin (commonly referred to as cosmetic injectable) is a protein produced by the bacteria “Clostridium botulinum” and related species. This protein will block the release of a neurotransmitter, causing temporary paralysis when injected into a targeted muscle; as a result, the muscle is relaxed. As the muscles remain in a relaxed state, they may atrophy, thus providing longer-term relief with subsequent treatments. There are various brand names of cosmetic injectable, and these include Cosmetic Injectable®, Xeomin® and Dysport®.
Dental House Group offers anti-wrinkle muscle relaxant injections to treat TMJ disorders, as well as for cosmetic purposes. These injections work by temporarily relaxing the muscles which are responsible for jaw pain, teeth grinding, clenching, and facial wrinkles.
Benefits of anti-wrinkle muscle relaxant injections
Dental practitioners are ideal providers of anti-wrinkle and muscle relaxant injections as they are experts in head and neck anatomy, and work routinely with fine needles in these areas. It is convenient in that it can be a quick add-on treatment and can be completed during a scheduled dental appointment.
