What is a Single Implant?
A single implant is a dental solution used to replace one missing tooth. A tooth consists of the crown, which is the part of the tooth you see, and a tooth root, which is below the crown and is secured in your jawbone. When a tooth and its root are missing, the jawbone where the tooth root was once located begins to deteriorate and you experience bone loss. The surrounding teeth begin to shift out of place while your facial structure changes shape as your jawbone begins to recede. This can cause an aged look making one appear older than they are.
A dental implant replaces the tooth root as it is inserted directly into the jawbone during minor surgery. The implant is made of titanium, which is compatible with human bone. The result is that your body begins to heal the bone in the area of the implant by making more bone to secure the implant into place, just like a real tooth root. Once healed, a dental crown is secured onto the implant and you have a prosthesis that looks and functions like a real tooth.
The Benefits of a Single Dental Implant
Single implants function like a real tooth so you can eat, talk, and smile without worry. And single implants protect you from jawbone loss, which helps overall dental health remain intact.
Traditionally, a single tooth may have been replaced with a dental bridge, which requires preparation of surrounding teeth to hold the bridge in place. But implants bypass the need to alter surrounding teeth, which is a less invasive way to replace your tooth. More benefits include:

Can I Get a Dental Implant?
